The testing laboratories

Who actually runs the tests.

Every certificate names a lab. Here is what we could verify about each one — whether it’s a real, independent third-party lab, whether it holds accreditation (and whether that accreditation even covers peptides), and how much evidence flows through it. We only call a lab “independent” when we’ve confirmed it. Everything is sourced; naming a lab is never an endorsement.

Independent lab

Janoshik Analytical

Czech Republic (Prague)

Widely described as the de-facto most-used third-party tester in the research-peptide community — while explicitly not a pharmaceutical-grade or accredited lab. Legal entity verified in the Czech business register.

Independent lab

MZ Biolabs

United States (Tucson, AZ)

Regarded within the community as a trusted US lab, often grouped with Colmaric and Janoshik. COAs signed by analyst Ken Pendarvis; documented cases of correctly flagging mislabeled samples. Reputation signals are from commercial review sites, not peer-reviewed sources.

Vanguard Laboratory

United States (Olympia, WA)

A genuinely accredited US lab; its peptide COAs are cited by vendors such as Umbrella Labs and Core Peptides. The key buyer caveat is the scope mismatch above.

Freedom Diagnostics Testing

United States (Franklin, TN)

Among the strongest independence cases: ~3,580 tests across multiple unrelated vendors plus individual-buyer submissions, and an explicit 'no vendor affiliations' self-statement corroborated by third-party review sites. Still unaccredited.

Nutri Analytical Testing Laboratories

United States (Anaheim, CA)

A genuine small independent contract lab (food/supplement/nutraceutical focus), independent of the peptide vendor (Chemyo) that publishes its reports.

BTLabs (BioTools, Inc.)

United States (West Palm Beach, FL)

The analytical arm of BioTools, Inc. — a real instrumentation/contract-research company. Independent of the peptide vendors it serves. Peptide testing is one segment of a broad multi-industry portfolio.

What we verified

In the registry, but no certificates here yet

We have researched this lab and hold what we could verify about it — but no certificate naming it has reached our records. That is a statement about our coverage, not about the lab’s work, and it is not a reason to distrust a certificate you hold from it. We list it so you can still check what we know before you trust a document.

Accreditation is not a rubber stamp.

ISO/IEC 17025 is method- and scope-specific: a lab can be genuinely accredited for food microbiology or heavy metals and still run its peptide purity tests outside that accredited scope. Where that’s the case, we say so. Most peptide-market labs hold no accreditation at all and operate as harm-reduction services — useful, but not regulatory-grade QC. We report what each lab can and can’t back, and we never repeat a vendor’s accreditation claim as fact.
